A Chelmsford paedophile who was found in possession of indecent images of children had a WhatsApp conversation about his sickening sexual fantasies, a court heard.
Oliver Fletcher, of Watchouse Road, was arrested in November 2017 after police executed a search warrant at his home address.
Officers discovered a laptop and a mobile phone which contained images including a baby being sexually abused by an adult, as well as bestiality pornography.
During a sentencing hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court today (Monday, May 11), it was also revealed that Fletcher had been involved in a WhatsApp conversation relating to sexual activity with an imaginary 13-year-old child.
The offences took place over a period of two months, and the 29-year-old has now been sentenced for his crimes.
The court hearing, which was conducted over video call, heard that Fletcher had pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs, one count of possession of a prohibited image of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image in January this year.
According to Suki Dhadda, prosecuting, he was found to have two devices with indecent images including some of the most severe category A images
A warrant was executed at Fletcher’s address in Chelmsford, Essex, in November 2017, following information from the National Crime Agency that the 29-year-old possessed a category A image of a child.
During the warrant, a number of items were seized including a silver laptop and a mobile phone.
A further investigation of the laptop found that in October 2017, search terms including ‘twink’, ‘bareback’ and ‘tumbler’ had been inputted. The court heard that ‘twink’ is a term commonly linked to indecent images of children.
The court also heard that Fletcher had been involved in a WhatsApp conversation relating to sexual activity with a child, however, the matter wasn’t taken into account when the sentence was applied.
Ms Dhadda added: “The defendant had quite an unhealthy interest in indecent images of children. In terms of the images, they range.”
She explained how one of the moving images involved a baby being sexually abused by an adult, while another image showed a pornographic scene involving a dog and a man.
Judge Tim Walker, who was present in Chelmsford Crown Court during the sentencing, made reference to the “despicable” nature of the images Fletcher possessed.
“All of these are images you are not entitled to possess as a matter of law, ” he explained. “When police investigated you had made specific searches upon looking for what appeared to be indecent images of children.
“These images were obtained deliberately by you, they are absolutely despicable.
“There was also a WhatsApp conversation related to a discussion you had in relation to sexual activity with children. There are victims in relation to each and every one of those photographed.
“This is not a victimless crime. They are children who have had their childhood ruined because of what has been done to them
“This is why courts and society consider this sort of activity as so serious.”
Fletcher received a total of nine months in prison for the five counts, but that sentence was suspended for 18 months, meaning he won’t spend any time behind bars.
He must also undertake 150 hours of unpaid work, 20 rehabilitation requirement days, and was made the subject of a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
