A paedophile has been jailed for the repeated and calculated abuse of a young and vulnerable child over a period of three years.
Allegations of the attacks carried out by Herne Bay resident Neil Williams were first reported to police in March 2019.
The 51-year-old, who lived in Mickleburgh Hill, was arrested the following month.
During police interview, he initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming that on one occasion there had been a misunderstanding after he examined and touched the victim in relation to a medical complaint.
However, investigations revealed he had attacked the child on a number of occasions between 2014 and 2017, warning the youngster to keep the incidents a secret.
Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court last month, Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a child.
Williams was jailed for four and a half years and given a four-year extended licence.
