A paedophile from Tamworth has been jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of raping a young girl.
David Cass, 53, of Deer Park Road, Fazeley, was convicted of eight counts of rape following a seven-day trial.
He was also found guilty of a series of other sex offences including attempted rape.
He pleaded guilty to a further 21 offences on the first day of his trial, including possessing indecent photographs of a child.
Cass was given an extended sentence, which means that he will serve at least 12 years before review. He will then be on license for four years.
He has been given a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.
He was arrested on November 14, 2016 on suspicion of rape after the victim spoke to her teacher.
He was arrested again on October 18, 2017 on suspicion of taking indecent images.
