Tullibody man performed sex act while staring at teenagers


A pervert who carried out a sex act on himself while staring at two Wee County teenagers has narrowly avoided a prison sentence.
Manjinder Singh was travelling on a train to Alloa when he began to leer at the 16-year-olds after they boarded at Stirling.
The creep then moved seat and began to touch himself, while only a few feet away from the two complainers.
Stirling Sheriff Court heard that the 43-year-old then began to masturbate as he stared across the train aisle at them both.
The incident was reported to the authorities and, as reported in the Advertiser, an appeal was launched by the British Transport Police.
Singh, of Tullibody, later pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace, with a sexual aggravation, when he appeared in the dock.
The case called again at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November, 28, for sentencing.
The prosecutor said on October 12 of last year, the women were returning to Clacks together from a gym session in Stirling when they encountered Singh on the train.
The fiscal depute said: “The accused was sitting within the front carriage, and one witness became aware of him staring right at her.
“They boarded the train, and as they were getting on one witness said to the other that the accused was staring at them.
“Both witnesses were sitting at the far end of the carriage away from the accused. The train carriage was quiet.
“The accused moved seat and sat opposite them. They thought this strange and weird.
“The accused took his phone out from his trouser pocket and put it in his top jacket pocket with the camera showing towards the witnesses.”
The incident then escalated as Singh started fondling himself.
The Crown agent continued: “He placed his hand on his crotch over his trousers and started playing with himself for about four minutes.
“He then put his hand down his trousers and started masturbating, and whilst doing this he continued to look at the witnesses.
“One witness put her hand over her mouth and said: ‘Oh, my god.’
“He then took his hand from inside his trousers and placed them over his trousers and continued to play with himself.”
One witness took a picture of Singh on her phone before the train arrived in Alloa, and when it did he left the area and the incident was reported to police.
Singh later attended Alloa police station after seeing his image online, and when cautioned and charged he said: “I understand this isn’t good behaviour, but don’t remember anything.”
Sheriff Simon Collins then expressed some concern over Singh’s immigration status. Although the Crown was not seeking to deport him, action could be taken by the secretary of state to have him removed from the country.
Nevertheless, the sheriff said he would pass sentence to take account of the “unpleasant and distressing” nature of the offence for the complainers.
Singh, of Ladywell Drive, was handed a Community Payback Order with the requirement he complete 150 hours of unpaid work over six months.
A supervision requirement of 18 months was also imposed, and Singh’s name will be added to the Sex Offenders Register for the duration of that period.
Sheriff Collins warned him: “This is an alternative to custody.
“If you fail to comply, you are liable to be sentenced to a prison sentence.”
