Man asked young girl to perform sex act on him for £40
A shocked young girl suffered a “nightmare” when a man offered her £40 to perform a sex act on him
She tried to guess what he wanted her to do for the cash and was left devastated when he told her his suggestion, a court heard.
Simon Carr, 53, of Kirkstead Crescent, Grimsby, admitted causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity on June 30.
Jeremy Evans, prosecuting at Grimsby Crown Court, said that Carr took out two £20 notes and asked the girl if she wanted the money in exchange for about 10 minutes of work.
She tried to think what it was that he wanted her to do and her guess was that it might be chores.
But he asked her to perform a sex act on him. She was instantly upset and began to cry.
The girl suffered a mixture of emotions, including sadness and disappointment.
“He asked her to forget what he had asked her to do. She said that she couldn’t.”
Carr acknowledged the “devastating consequences of his actions”.
The girl described the incident as a “nightmare” from which she could not wake because “in five minutes, her life has been turned upside down”.
Judge Simon Jack told Carr: “I accept that this was, in effect, a moment of madness on your part.
“You overstepped the mark, albeit for only a matter of seconds.
“You immediately realised the folly of what you had done and how wrong it was.
“You did not try to press it at all. The offence literally lasted a matter of seconds.”
Carr was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence and 20 days’ rehabilitation.
He was given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
