Stoke-on-Trent paedophile caught with baby rape photos in his sickening stash is spared jail

Pervert Daniel Woodward downloaded more than 1,100 child abuse photos on his computer – including images of a baby being raped.
Police found 1,188 indecent images of children on the 27-year-old’s computer after they executed a search warrant at his home.
Now Woodward has been handed a two-year community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Nick Tatlow said police searched the defendant’s Stoke-on-Trent home on June 27, 2018.
Mr Tatlow said: “They seized a computer. It was subsequently examined and 1,188 indecent images of children were found on the computer.”
The images were across all three categories from A – the most serious – to C and were downloaded between early 2014 and mid 2018.
Mr Tatlow added: “The images included the rape of small babies and toddlers and were of the most serious child sexual abuse.”
The defendant was arrested but declined to answer any questions put to him in his police interview.
Woodward, whose address cannot be published under a court order, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children.
Debbie Leadbeater, mitigating, said: “He is not going to be able to use a computer at all. It is the mainstay of his life.”
As part of the order Woodward must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement for 14 days.
Judge David Fletcher said: “You pleaded guilty to the offences of downloading these images.
“They all involve the abuse of children, sometimes very young children. We are not talking about animation. We are talking about appalling sexual behaviour towards very young children somewhere in the world.
“If there was no requirement to look at the images, no demand for the images, it is clear the amount of abuse would reduce and there would be no necessity for anyone to produce them.
“You now understand the gravity of what you did.
“Any breaches will result in you returning to the crown court and you losing your liberty.”
Woodward was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further order and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
He was ordered to pay £420 costs.
