Paedophile dad surfed the web for child abuse photos

A paedophile dad dodged a jail stretch despite having an “entrenched sexual interest in children aged 10”.
Paul Gordon, 58, was nabbed after downloading hundreds of sordid child sex abuse images at his family home.
He would trawl seedy websites searching for photographs of youngsters being abused to live out his “fantasy life”.
Experts assessing Gordon after his arrest insisted he had an “entrenched sexual interest in children aged 10 to early adolescence”.
Gordon admitted hoarding the pictures during a hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Colin Pettigrew heard his wife and daughters were standing by him.
He said: “You have pled guilty to a charge of downloading 217 indecent images of children.
“Clearly, there is a pattern of offending and you were searching specific websites.
“You knew it was harmful, but you didn’t stop.
“You are very fortunate to have the support of your wife and family.
“You have been assessed as a moderate risk.”
Gordon amassed a stash of indecent photographs over a six-day spell at his family home.
He saved photographs after visiting child abuse websites “several times” a week.
The court heard he has had an interest in extreme pornography for a decade.
But the fiend claimed he had only been watching children being tortured for the last year.
Gordon hid the pictures at his home in Erskine’s Douglas Street He pled guilty to downloading them between November 1 and 6 last year.
The beast claimed the photographs allowed him to escape from depression after problems in his marriage.
Gordon has been banned from contacting anybody under the age of 16 online.
There are no limits to contact with youngsters in person.
He has been forbidden from clearing his internet search history and can only access the web if given permission by authorities.
Gordon has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
He will be required to attend regular meetings with social workers and must attend counselling.
