Man sentenced to nine years in jail for raping 13-year-old girl
A man has been jailed for nine years after raping a 13-year-old girl in Market Weighton.
Michael Carroll, 26, raped the teenager at an address in the town over two years ago before he was sentenced at Hull Crown Court on December 21.
Humberside Police say evidence was gathered by detectives and specialist trained officers interviewed the brave victim following the rape at a house in the town in November 2016.
Carroll will now spend nine years behind bars after being found guilty of rape.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “On 21 December the trial of 26 year-old Michael Carroll concluded and culminated in a sentence of nine years being ordered in respect of a single case of the rape of a 13 year-old girl.
“Following a long investigation where specially trained officers interviewed the brave victim who gave her account of the incident and forensic evidence was gathered, the case against Michael Carroll built.
“It was found that in November 2016 Michael Carroll raped the girl at a house in Market Weighton. Michael Carroll will now spend nine years in jail for his crime.
