A man has admitted making more than 1,000 indecent images of children as well as distributing an image of a child.
Philip Manners, of Brinkburn Grove, Banbury, appeared at Oxford Crown Court to enter a plea relating to three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of distributing an indecent photograph.
The 48-year old entered guilty pleas to all of the four charges against him at the court yesterday.
The court heard that Manners had made the images, ranging from the most sever category – A, to the least serious – C, between March 11 2014 and May 16 2018.
Manners had made 63 indecent images of the highest category A, 64 images of category B and 913 images in category C, totalling 1,040 indecent images of children.
He also admitted distributing an indecent photograph of a child between October 13 2016 and October 26 2016.
After the pleas had been entered his defence barrister Adrian Amer asked the court for a pre-sentence report, to explore all sentencing options.
He said that in light of a lack of any previous convictions non-custodial options should be explored before the final sentencing date.
Judge Maria Lamb agreed to adjourn the case so that a report could be prepared by the National Probation Service.
She warned Manners, however, that adjourning the case was ‘no indication’ of any final sentence for the offending.
She told Manners: “You should make all your arrangements on that basis.”
The sentencing will be held at the same court on January 31 and Manners was released on conditional bail in the mean time.
