A man who was caught by a paedophile hunting team has been sentenced.
Jeremy Moorish, 46 of St Budeaux Close, Ottery St Mary appeared via video link at Exeter Crown Court today where he was sentenced for:
– Sexual communication with a 13 year old girl
– Attempting to meet a 13 year old girl in order to engage in sexual conduct with her
The court was told that Moorish had contacted the online profiles he believed belonged to two schoolgirls. Moorish immediately sent sexually explicit chat to both girls. Further more, Moorish also sent pictures of his penis and a video of himself masturbating.
After several weeks, Moorish arranged to meet one of the girls following sexual grooming. On the 17th November, 2018, Moorish who had just finished work at a Marsh Barton recycling company arrived at the precinct in Cowick Street, Exeter. Moorish sat and waited, whilst he messaged the girl. However, members of paedophile hunting team ‘UK database’ who were covertly positioned, approached Moorish in his car and questioned him on his internet activity.
The team told a shocked Moorish that both of the 13 year old girls he had been speaking to were actually decoys belonging to their team.
Decoys are adult members of the team that pose online in order online as underage girls to catch sexual predators that target children. Those decoys were Kellie Jakoma & Elsie Knight
Moorish fully admitted his actions to the team and told them his life was over and that he would kill himself. He also stated that he knew it was wrong and that he would be classed as a paedophile if he was caught.
Moorish said he would love to be at school with the girls, so he could see the other schoolgirls naked when they changed for physical education classes.
The team called the police who arrived at the scene and arrested Moorish
Although Moorish had initially given a false name of ‘Tom’ on the online app, the UK database research team were able to identify and track him.
Today, the judge sentenced Moorish to a 12 month prison sentence suspended for two years
He was handed a ten year sexual harm prevention order and was told that he must register as a sex offender for ten years.
The UK database would like to thank Exeter police for their swift and professional support to secure this conviction in super fast time.
