No prison sentence for 86-year-old Bexleyheath paedophile who abused two girls
A Bexleyheath paedophile who abused two girls, brought to justice thanks to his brave victims, was spared jail.

Ray Sadley, 86, of Percy Road, abused both of his underage victims at his house and also a local park a number of times over two decades.

The abuse took place in the 1970s and 1980s, while the victims were aged between eight and 15-years-old.

The victims and their families were both known to Sadler.

Detective Constable Paul Harakis said: “I commend the victims for their courage and commitment in this case.

“Sadler is a predatory paedophile who took advantage of children left in his care.
“The two victims have lived with the trauma and stress of what happened to them for over 30 years, and have shown remarkable courage in reliving events.

“This investigation shows that, regardless of the length of passage of time since offending, police will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”

Sadler was finally caught after one of the victims came forward in January 2017 to say she had been abused as a child.

While investigating, police discovered and got into contact with a second victim.

Sadler was voluntarily interviewed on February 7, 2017, and again on July 6, 2018. He was subsequently summoned to appear in Bromley Magistrates’ Court on January 7, 2019.

After pleading guilty to ten counts of indecent assault of girls under the age of 16, he was passed on for sentencing to Woolwich Crown Court.
Finally, on Friday (March 8), he received a suspended sentence of 18 months, suspended for 20 months.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
