Man had 900 indecent child images on computer at parents’ home



A pervert had hundreds of child abuse images stashed on his computer at his “shocked” parents’ home.
Samuel Edwards has been given a community order after a police raid uncovered the shocking images on his computer and a USB drive.
The 27-year-old was caught when police raided his home in Whitemore Way, Basildon on October 17, 2017 following reports that an IP address had been used to download exploitative and indecent images of children.
Edwards’ computer was seized along with a memory stick. In total, there were 205 category A images of child abuse, the most serious kind.
He also had 346 category B images and 374 category C images.
Edwards was arrested and interviewed by police and eventually he admitted to possessing indecent images of children. He was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday.
The court heard Edwards had never made any attempt to sexually communicate with children.
Sentencing, Judge Andrew Hurst told Edwards he had been “full and frank” in his admissions and the gratification he sought from the images.
He said: “You must understand, and the public must understand, that behind every image is a real child. It’s real and serious abuse.
“They suffer physically, mentally and emotionally and damages their chances to be secure in intimacy in their future.
“I am impressed that you’re trying to redeem yourself with your charitable donations.”
Edwards was given a three-year community order and must complete at lest 60 days of rehabilitation.
