Paedophile arranged to meet 13-year-old ‘girl’ at Cornish train station for sex


An already convicted paedophile arranged to meet a 13-year-old ‘girl’ for sex at a Cornish train station only to be confronted by online paedophile hunters.
Daniel Pyle, 23, believed he was meeting a girl aged 13 after sending her sexualised messages and pictures of his penis on WhatsApp over several weeks, despite her repeatedly telling him she was underage.
Pyle, previously from Liskeard, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence from HMP Exeter having pleaded guilty to arranging to meet a child for the commission of a sexual offence, sexual communication with a child and three possessing indecent images of children charges.
Prosecuting the case, Philip Lee described how right from the start of when the communications started in October 2017 there was evidence of grooming type behaviour.
Mr Lee said: “The defendant asked if she wanted him to be her boyfriend to which she replied that she was only 13 and would she get told off. He said not if she kept it a secret.”
He also sent a picture of his genitals asking if she’d ‘suck it like a lollipop’ and other lewd insinuations.
What followed was numerous messages about sex, in which the defendant reassured her that although it’d hurt at first, it’d feel good after.
“Persistent and impatient” Pyle debated booking a room in the Travelodge before deciding to take the ‘girl’ to his home.
He eventually arranged to meet her at Liskeard train station. Whilst waiting, he text her asking if she had any knickers on.
However, whilst waiting at the platform Pyle was confronted by members of an online group who detained him until police arrived.
He also was found to have a small number of indecent images of children on his phone and searches relating to child sex abuse.
Sentencing Pyle, Judge Simon Carr opened by stating Pyle’s previous convictions for similar behaviour for which he received non-custodial sentences.
He said: “You contacted a child who made it clear repeatedly that she was 13, but actually she was an adult masquerading as a child.
“You didn’t know and your communication was sexualised from the beginning, repeatedly sending pictures of your penis.
“You tried to support her indicating that she would enjoy sex and arranged to meet her only to be met by adults.
“There is no excuse for the length of time this case has taken to come to court. You have shown a sexual interest in children since at least 2012 and pose a significant risk to children, and I suspect you will for the rest of your life.”
Pyle was given an eight year extended sentence, four years in custody and four on licence.
He was also made subject of a 10 year sexual harm prevention order.

Teenage pervert jailed
A teenage paedophile who defied a conditional discharge to pick up where he left off and continue to hold explicit chats with children was handed one final chance.
Daniel Pyle, 19, from Joan Moffat Close in Liskeard, appeared at Truro Crown Court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of causing or inciting a child aged 13 to engage in sexual activity and one count of breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) by communicating with a child under 16 in a sexual manner.
Pyle had previously appeared before magistrates and been given a conditional discharge for identical crimes after first being arrested in June 2015.
Police had questioned Pyle after male students at a Plymouth school complained of being contacted, which led to in some cases the exchanging of pictures of a sexual nature and the arranging of meet ups to engage in sexual activity.
The court heard how as a result of the crimes he was issued a SHPO which he repeatedly breached by getting in contact with children again and following a similar pattern of behaviour.
Prosecutor Heather Hope told of how Pyle asked his victims to send explicit pictures and arranged a secret meet for a sex act to be performed.
Sentencing Pyle, Judge Simon Carr said: “You are still only 19 years old and your inappropriate behaviour started in 2005.
“You target boys and girls aged 13/14, win their trust and then exchange sexual images before suggesting meeting in person.
“It is unusual for a court to criticise the decision of another court but I am at a loss to see why they (magistrates) handed you a conditional discharge.
“As a result you received no support for the battle going on in your head and it was inevitable you returned to such behaviour.
“You present a high risk to children and that will be the case until you address your problems. This is your last opportunity.”
Pyle was sentenced to 21 months in a young offenders’ institute suspended for two years and told he must attend the Thames Valley Sex Offenders Programme as well as be the subject of a revised SHPO.
