A man who believed he was grooming a 14 year old girl for sex has been jailed
The court was told that Ryan Martin, 19 of Birmingham had contacted the online profile of who he believed belonged to a 14-year-old girl. He sent a string of sexually charged messages showing his clear intent to engage the child into sexual activity.
However, the child did not exist and was instead an adult member of paedophile hunting team ‘PH Balance’
The team travelled to Birmingham on the 6th January 2019 to confront Martin over his internet activity. The police were called and Martin was arrested at the scene
Ryan Martin was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 18th March 2019 as follows:
· 15 months imprisonment
· Suspended sentence activated in part (4 months imprisonment) concurrent to above;
· Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 5 years
· Sex Offenders Register for 10 years
