Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been jailed for ten years after being convicted of the sexual assault of a child.
Douglas Whiting, aged 36, of no fixed abode, admitted one count of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence in a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on 18 January this year.
Between 25 and 28 August 2018 in Oxford, Whiting attacked a young girl, strangling her and sexually assaulting her.
The victim sustained bleeding to the eyes and scratches and bruises during the incident.
Whiting was arrested on 4 September 2018 and was charged the following day.
After pleading guilty at Oxford Crown Court, Whiting was sentenced on Friday (1/3) to ten years plus a further one year on licence for sexual assault and three years for committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence – the sentences to run concurrently.
