An intruder who sexually assaulted two young girls and a woman in separate attacks has been jailed for 15 years.
In one incident, paedophile Jason Bursk, 51, sneaked into a home through a back door and went into a bedroom, where he sexually assaulted and attempted to rape a young girl until her sister woke up in a bed next to her and pushed him away, a court heard.
CCTV footage showed the “deviant sexual predator” pulling his trousers up inside the property and fastening them as he ran away.
In another incident, he sexually assaulted a woman in her late 70s as she slept in her home.
Uber and taxi driver Bursk, a dad-of-three from Radcliffe in Bury, would look in gardens and peep through windows for children’s toys, and try doors until he found one that was open as he preyed on young girls and women late at night,
Bursk, whose wife and children are standing by him, was jailed after he pleaded guilty to 11 offences including attempted rape, sexual assault and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offences.
The charges stemmed from eight incidents between January 2012 and November 2019.
The intruder sexually assaulted two girls and a woman, and attempted to trespass several other homes with the intention of committing sexual acts, said police.
The most serious offence was committed against a young girl, who was asleep in her bedroom with her younger sister when Bursk struck in the early hours of November 15
After assaulting her, Bursk bit her and called her a “brat” as she turned away and buried her head in a teddy bear as he tried to rape her.
The girl’s sister bravely intervened and tried to push Bursk away before he shoved both children and then made off after their father was alerted, with CCTV footage capturing him running from the scene, holding his trousers up.
Both girls had been significantly affected by the events of the night, the court heard.
Greater Manchester Police said after Bursk was sentenced: “The court heard that after a night out in Manchester, Bursk was dropped off by a taxi. He was seen on CCTV stopping in front of a house and looking through the window before trying the front door.
“After being unable to enter the house, he walked across the road and tried the door of another house. He was next seen on CCTV peering through the rear window of the house before gaining entry through the back door.
“Bursk then proceeded to go to one of the bedrooms where he began to sexually assault and attempted to rape the young girl. He only left the room after being disturbed by the young girl’s sister who awoke in a bed next to her.”
Bursk’s elderly victim awoke to find him in her bedroom after he had turned the lights off, the court heard.
He pinned her down and placed his hand over her mouth when she screamed, before he later ran off when she kicked out at him.
The sexual assault had brought on rapid and significant deterioration in her physical and mental health, said prosecutor Andrew Ford, and her family viewed the attack with “disgust and helplessness”.
Another young victim of Bursk came forward after she recognised him in a media appeal over the break-ins and recalled how he had sexually abused her in 2012 when she was a child.
Police said Bursk’s routine was to go for a night out and drink before offending once back in Radcliffe. In one instance, he was captured on CCTV in one woman’s house wearing a dog-tooth patterned sports jacket and slacks, which helped convict him.
Sarah Johnston, defending, said Bursk’s wife of more than 20 years and their children are standing by him.
The court heard he ran a taxi company with his wife.
Ms Johnston said: “They genuinely believe that the root cause of the offending can be addressed. They still see the good in their father and husband, and remain committed to him.”
She added that Bursk said the offences were committed in drink and that he had suffered traumatic abuse as a child and “incredible stress” while serving as a young soldier in the Israeli army.
She also said Bursk wrote in a letter to the judge: “Part of me is dead, I am ashamed, and I am sorry.”
Sentencing, Judge John Potter told Bursk: “Your convictions in these proceedings show you to be a deviant sexual predator.
“There can be no excuse whatsoever for your wicked, depraved and predatory behaviour towards others.
“The harm caused to you is no excuse for you to harm others.”
In his judgment, he said Bursk is continuing to minimise his behaviour, and he hailed the “incredible bravery” of the girl attacked in November last year and her sister, who pushed the predator away.
Bursk pleaded guilty to 11 offences on January 17.
At Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester on Wednesday, he was sentenced to 15 years with an additional five years on extended licence.
He was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Bursk is classed as a dangerous offender and must serve two-thirds of his sentence in custody before he can be considered for parole, the court was told.
The 11 offences relating to eight incidents, which took place between January 2012 and November 2019, that Bursk pleaded guilty to were:
– Four counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
– Three counts of attempting to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence.
– Two counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13
– One count of attempted rape of a child.
– One count of sexual assault.
Three CCTV clips were released by police after Bursk was jailed.
One shows him walking down the road shortly before he attacked the young girl in her bed in Radcliffe last November, and later pulling up and fastening his trousers after the sexual assault and attempted rape.
Another clip shows him out drinking with pals in Manchester city centre earlier in the night.
And the third clip shows him entering a stranger’s property during the night and being locked in by the occupant, who was alerted by the alarm on her doorbell, on April 5, 2019.
He was disturbed by the occupant’s two dogs, unlocked the door and fled.
