A pervert from Burnham who collected and stored thousands of indecent photographs and videos of children has been jailed.
Danny Faires, 38, came to the attention of police after they received intelligence that abuse images had been accessed by a person at Faires’ home.
A search of the property saw three devices recovered, with a forensic examination revealing Faires had accessed illegal material, including images depicting young children being raped.
After pleading guilty the defendant came before Chelmsford Crown Court to be sentenced yesterday afternoon (March 8).
Outlining the facts of the case, prosecutor Lucy Ginsberg told the court how from the horde of disgusting stills and films founds, investigating officers discovered nearly 600 from Category A – the most serious classification for indecent images.
A search of his internet history also revealed images had been obtained as far back as April 2015.
The defendant, who answered no comment when questioned by police, was charged with five offences on November 3 last year.
Faires, of Marsh Road, initially came before Essex Magistrates’ Court on December 13 last year but did not enter any pleas.
He eventually admitted his guilt during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 10.
Faires was sentenced to a total of 12 months in prison for three counts of making indecent images of children, with no separate penalty passed for his possession of extreme and prohibited images.
In addition, it was ordered that Faires’ laptop, mobile and storage devices should be destroyed.
He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and will be subject to the Sex Offenders’ Register.
