A paedophile who downloaded some of the most horrific images of children and babies being abused seems to beyond redemption, a judge said.

Francis Anthony Duncan downloaded thousands of images, some of which showed infants as young as six months old being sexually assaulted.

The 67-year-old was found to have a collection of nearly 30,000 sick photographs and videos when he was arrested.

He had software that allowed him to go on the internet anonymously and access the ‘Dark web’, where other perverts were able to post abuse images.

At Mold crown court the prosecutor said when police turned up at his house in September and asked if he had any illegal images, he said: “”Well, there may be – this is me.”

He was in court today for the third time, and Judge David Hale said he appeared “irredeemable”.

Some of the images showed children tied up by their arms and legs being abused by other paedophiles.

Judge Hale added: “People have suffered in the making of these images, wherever in the world they were made, just for your ti.ilation,” the judge told him.

“You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. You are almost an irredeemable addict looking at this material.”

The breaches of the order involved possessing the file sharing software and a browser which meant he could search anonymously.

Duncan had admitted at the magistrates’ court making by downloading indecent images of children at category A, B and C, possessing prohibited images, possessing extreme images of bestiality, and two charges of breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Hale jailed Duncan, of Wern in Wrexham’s Caia Park, for 32 months, and made him sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
