A 26-year-old man started a ‘sexual fantasy relationship’ with a 13-year-old American girl before getting her to send him an indecent picture.

Brett Healey – who hid from reporters as he left court – said he thought the girl, from Kentucky, was 16. He was found with an inappropriate picture of her on his phone.

Police recovered chat logs between the pair. Messages between the girl and Healey, formerly of Buxton, Derbyshire, but now of Rossendale, were often explicit“Send me a pic of you, baby,” one read.

A court heard the pair had a ‘sexual fantasy relationship’.

Handing him a 12-month community order at Derby Crown Court,Judge John Burgess said: “You pleaded guilty to one offence of possession an indecent image of a girl who you thought was 16 but who turned out to be 13.

“The two of you engaged in a sexual fantasy relationship, she was in Kentucky and you were in Derbyshire.

“From now on you should be very careful who you contact and who you communicate with over the internet.”

Esther Harrison, prosecuting, said police seized two iPhones when they executed a warrant at Healey’s then address in Buxton on November 5, 2016.
An image of the 13-year-old girl was then discovered.

“There was evidence of chat logs between the defendant and the victim in which various sexually explicit messages had been exchanged between them,” Miss Harrison added.

“They included one in which he said…’send me a pic of you, baby’.

“The two of them were living out a sexual fantasy relationship.

“She was 13 and she was claiming to be 16 or 17. Her sister sent a screen shot and notified the defendant she was 13.

Healey, of Edgemoor Close, Shawforth, Rossendale, near Rochdale, pleaded guilty to possession of an indecent image of the girl.

He will be on the sex offender register for five years.
