Merthyr man caught by paedophile hunters

A man has been jailed after he was caught grooming a child online
Gym worker Gareth Robinson, 55 from Merthyr Tydfil appeared at the local Crown Court where he admitted several sexual offences involving grooming
The court heard that Robinson had contacted what he believed was the online profile of a 12-year-old girl.
The pervert sent highly sexually explicit chat with a view of engaging in sexual activity with the child.
A number of videos were also sent, which showed naked Robinson masterbating and inserting items into his bottom.
However, the child was actually an adult member of online child protection team ‘Redemption’ who confronted Robinson on his internet activity. The team called police and he was arrested ad later charged
Robinson pleaded not guilty and the case went to trial. However, after the jury were presented with the facts, they found Robinson guilty.
The judge sentenced Robinson to a three year custodial sentence.
A 10 year sexual harm prevention order was made and he was told that he must register as a sex offender for life
