Sex attacker squeezed schoolgirl’s breast with dog ball thrower

A pensioner used a dog ball thrower to indecently assault a 14-year-old schoolgirl after she leaned down to pat his dog.
Thomas Foy, 69, placed the object against the terrified youngster’s chest, saying “you’ve got nice boobs, I’d like to squeeze them.”
Liverpool Crown Court heard the incident took place at a bus stop in Bootle where the girl was waiting for a bus to take her to school.
Frank Dillon, prosecuting, said Foy approached the schoolgirl with his dog when he realised she was on her own.
“As she patted the dog, he asked her how old she was and what school she went to,” said Mr Dillon.
When she refused to tell him, Foy opened her school blazer and pressed the dog ball thrower against her chest, saying he’d like to “squeeze her boobs” before walking away.
The girl raised the alarm when she arrived at school and Foy, of Watts Lane, Bootle, was arrested three days later
Judge Gary Woodhall said the assault on the girl was “an opportunistic offence” by Foy.
“There was a sexual motive and she was distressed and upset by what you did,” he told him.
Initially Foy said the girl was lying, but later he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Since the incident occurred, the court heard, the girl had been scared to use the bus stop.
She felt scared being on her own and felt it necessary to carry a personal attack alarm.
Foy was told by Judge Woodhall there was little purpose in sending him to prison for only a short period of time.
Instead, he was given a three-year community order, which included attending a sex offender treatment programme.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of five years.
