Paedophile caught on his way to meet girl, 14

A paedophile who was caught trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex in a Facebook “sting” has been jailed.
Unemployed Paul Chambers, 40, travelled from his home in Hull Road, Anlaby, to Paragon Station to meet a teenage girl called Emma who he had been chatting to on Facebook messenger.
However, when he arrived he was met by a couple he knew who told him it was them who had been messaging him and that Emma did not exist.
It came after the couple suspected Chambers had a sexual interest in children and so set up a fake Facebook profile under the name of 14-year-old Emma Williams to catch him out.
Chambers pleaded guilty to attempting to incite child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday.
Claire Holmes, prosecuting told the court Chambers had been sending indecent images of himself to the girl who he believed was 14.
She said: “They decided to set a trap to see if this defendant would act.
“They set up a fake account with a picture of a girl who was young. The woman sent a friend request and he accepted that friend request and thereafter followed conversations of a sexual nature.
“He sent Emma a picture. It’s clear from that conversation that he thought he was talking to a 14-year-old girl. They discussed the prospect of sexual intercourse.
“In a later part of the conversation he did say to her that things had to be kept between she and he.
“The defendant went a step further and they arranged to meet at Paragon Station. This defendant attended at the appropriate time.
“Emma didn’t attend but the man did. He reported the defendant to a policeman who was nearby and he was arrested. He continued to say it was a set-up.”
As the friend confronted Chambers at Paragon Station, he said: “So you haven’t been sending dirty pictures to anyone on the internet? Are you sure about that?
“You want me to show you this, then? You want me to show you this?
“Are these of you? These are dirty pictures of you.
“You’re talking to a 14-year-old on the internet for sex. It’s all in black and white.”
Chambers could be heard saying: “Why are people trying to wind me up all the time?”
Following the arrest, police searched his house and found pictures of “young females” and also found links to teenage girls pornography sites on his laptop.
The judge told him: “There will be a sexual harm prevention order, you will have to sign the sex offenders register. It will be in existence for ten years.
“You will serve 12 months imprisonment on each of the two counts, to be served concurrently.”
