A man from Bromley who groomed what he believed was a child online has been jailed
Christopher Taggart of Bromley made a last minute guilty plea as he faced a trial for online grooming offences.
The court heard that Taggart had contacted the online profile of who he believed belonged to child. Taggart immediately sent sexually explicit messages with the clear intent of grooming the girl for sexual activity
However, the child did not exist and was instead an adult member of paedophile hunting team ‘Shadow Hunters UK’. The team pose online as children to catch sexual predators.
The judge sentenced him to 50 Months imprisonment
An Indefinite sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) was imposed and Taggart was placed on both barring lists which prevents him working with children and vulnerable adults
Taggart was told that he must also register as a sex offender
