A pervert who sexually abused a child over a period of six months has been jailed.
Mark Holbrook, 55, of Yelfs Road, Ryde, admitted four counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of sexual communication with a child.
He appeared at Isle of Wight Crown Court for sentencing.
The court heard how he had touched the child under her clothing, kissed her whenever he got a chance, bought her earrings and sent her sexually explicit messages.
For Holbrook, Oscar Vincent said his client’s behaviour was a temporary phase during a stressful period of his life.
Holbrook’s computer equipment was seized and there were no indecent images of children found, Mr Vincent said.
He was sentenced to a total of three years and four months and will be on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
