A man who raped and degraded a teenage girl in an alley more than 20 years ago is still a danger to females – a judge has decided
Dismissing an application by Stuart Lee Johnston of Millisle to have his name taken off the sex offenders register, judge Piers Grant said the rapist was a liar who was devoid of any remorse or insight and still posed a ‘risk of sexual harm’ 23 years after his sickening attack
Stressing that Johnston was uncooperative and resentful towards court orders, the judge added: Your preparedness to mislead on any occasion when you have the opportunity to do so is strong evidence in support of the assessment that you continue to pose a serious risk of sexual harm
At the end of his trial in 1995, Johnston with an address in Ards was convicted of rape and indecent assault on a 17 year old girl. He was handed a 12 year sentence
It was also revealed that Johnston had two other sexual offence convictions – Unlawful carnage knowledge with a 14 year old girl in 1995 and the indecent assault of a 14 year old boy in 1987
Johnston sat listening intently in the public gallery throughout. When the ruling did not go his way, he stormed from the court room, banging the door against the wall on his way out
