Married cop with two kids admits hoarding sick haul of child rape pics at Renfrewshire home

A married police officer is facing jail after he was caught with a horrific haul of images of kids being raped.

James Paul, 37, a dad-of-two, was suspended from his job as a Constable with Police Scotland and has since resigned from the role.

He has now been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for hoarding the images at the home he shared with his wife and children in Bishopton, Renfrewshire.

Yesterday, Paul appeared in the dock to plead guilty to the single charge against him – being in possession of indecent images of children.

He admitted having a total of 38 files spread across the two devices at his home on December 6, 2017.

The court heard how colleagues searched his five-bedroom two storey detached home worth £250,000 after receiving intelligence that indecent images of children were being stored at the address.

Six officers raided Paul’s house at around 8.15am on December 6, 2017, and seized his computer equipment.
Procurator Fiscal Depute, Pamela Brady, said 33 images were found on a black Lenovo laptop, and a further five were found on a USB stick.
The prosecutor said that, of the 33 found on the laptop, five were categorised by experts as being the most extreme form of child sex abuse images.
Sheriff Susan Sinclair called for background reports to be prepared ahead of sentencing and placed him on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
It’s understood Paul was working as a Community Police Officer at the time of his arrest – a position which involved him visiting schools on a regular basis.
