Parents in Hull were disgusted to find a paedophile working at a local supermarket frequented by children just days after his conviction.
Anthony Hill, 32, of Brough, was convicted at Hull Crown Court on Monday after 3,500 child abuse images were found on his computer.
But just three days later, he was spotted working at the area’s Morrisons on Thursday morning.
Morrisons said it was not informed of Hill’s conviction – despite him being arrested in a Morrisons store.
The supermarket has now suspended him from his job at the Brough store.
It is understood Hill was suspended on Thursday afternoon – the day he was spotted – after the store was contacted by Hull Live.
Grandmother Sarah Crombie had seen its coverage of his conviction and told the site she was “sickened” when she saw him in the store in Welton Road on Thursday morning.
The 43-year-old from Brough said: “It was definitely him. He was on the shop floor.
“I’m sickened he’s working there. I take my granddaughter in there. He shouldn’t be allowed to be near children. He was on the shop floor.
“I’ve seen the effects and devastation it (child sex abuse) causes. And I for one will not tolerate any abuse of children.”
Ms Crombie said the five-year rehabilitation order handed to him by the judge in court was not tough enough, and says she believes he should have been jailed.
She added: “He’s admitted guilt so therefore should not be given a lenient sentence.
“He should have been dealt with in a proper manner. You can’t change who he is. He’s sexually attracted to children. It’s not going to change.
“He’s been enrolled on a five year program. What’s that gonna do? You can’t change the fact he likes children.
“He needs locking up. Children are at risk while he’s on the streets. End of.”
Michelle Grafton, 37, a mum of two from Brough, said she was shocked to hear Hill was still allowed to work after his conviction in a place which is often busy with families.
She said: “They have a duty of care to their customers and he is a convicted nonce who should be sacked and barred from the premises.
“I will not be shopping there if he is not sacked. I will quite happily trot to Sainsburys or drive to the Co-op in Ferriby.”
Hull Crown Court heard Hill was found with over 3,500 “unique” images of children, as well as sick sadist videos, on his computer and laptop.
He was arrested by plain clothed officers at a Morrisons supermarket in Mexborough, around 60 miles from his home.
Prosecutor Stephen Welch said thousands of images and 100 videos involving children younger than ten were “downloaded from peer to peer and torrent websites”.
Hill pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images and videos at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to a five-year community order and as part of the programme.
He must also undertake ten rehabilitation sessions and more than 31 monthly sessions with the Horizons team.
