Pervert shop worker Subramaniam Naguleswaran groped a schoolgirl’s breasts – when she came in to buy crisps.


The 45-year-old dad was working in Dartmouth Food and Wine in Burslem when he carried out the sex attack.

His victim had arrived at the store at 7.30am when he hugged and touched her hand and face before deliberately stroking her chest.

The defendant was arrested when the shaken-up girl told her mum what had happened and the CCTV was checked.

Now Naguleswaran has been handed a 12-month community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Timothy Ashmole said the victim walked into Dartmouth Food and Wine in Dartmouth Street at 7.30am to buy some crisps.

Mr Ashmole said: “On entry she was greeted by the defendant who hugged her. They then separated and the girl selected some crisps. They began speaking to each other.

“The defendant approached her again. He took her right hand and continued to speak to her. He then touched her face gently before taking his fingers off her chin.

“Having removed his hand from her face he deliberately stroked her breasts as she walked away.

“The Crown’s case is the hugging, hand holding and face holding was inappropriate. The touching of the breasts was quite deliberate sexual activity.

“The girl immediately told her mother what had happened and the matter was reported to the police.”

Naguleswaran, of Dartmouth Street, Burslem, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child.

As part of the community order Naguleswaran must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement for 35 days and 80 hours unpaid work.

He was made the subject of a five-year restraining order, which prevents him having any contact with his victim.

He was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the same period. And he was ordered to pay £1,800 costs.
