A pervert who attempted to groom what he believed was a child online has avoided a prison sentence
David Hardcastle of Huddersfield appeared at Leeds Crown Court where he admitted:
Attempting to meet a child following grooming
Sexual communication with a child
The court was told that Hardcastle had contacted the online profile of who he believed belonged to a 14 year old girl. He sent a string of sexually explicit messages before arranging a meet at the train station with the girl, who he requested to wear no underwear.
Hardcastle arrived at the station, but instead of a child, he was greeted by members of a paedophile hunting team who explained who they were.
The team questioned Hardcastle on his internet activity before ringing the police
Hardcastle was arrested at the scene
The judge handed Hardcastle a 10 month prison sentence which was suspended for two years
A ten year sexual harm prevention order was imposed and he was told to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years
Hardcastle was also told to complete a 90 day rehabilitation course
