A man who groomed what he believed was a 13 year old schoolgirl has been sentenced after he was caught by a Welsh paedophile hunting team

Paul Arron Rogers of Crosskeys/Risca appeared in court where he was convicted of:

Four counts of attempting to cause or incite a female child to engage in sexual activity

The court was told that Rogers had contacted the online profile of an individual he believed was a 13 year old schoolgirl

The Tata steel works employee went on to send a string of sexually explicit messages with the clear intent of engaging the child for sexual activity. A number of sexual images was also sent by Rogers to further groom the child for sex.

However, the child did not exist and was instead an adult member of paedophile hunting team ‘Welsh Children Protectors – who are now called KKS Wales‘ – who pose online as children to catch sexual predators.

In November 2017, the team confronted Rogers at his home address.

The team presented him with their evidence. They questioned him on his internet activity and called the police who in turn arrested Rogers at the scene

Rogers should of appeared at Newport Crown Court in November 2018, but failed to appear. A warrant for his arrest was issued.

The pervert was finally located and arrested and appeared in court this month (January 2018)

The judge handed Rogers 36 weeks imprisonment which was suspended for 24 months

He ordered Rogers to complete 180 hours unpaid work and issued a rehabilitation activity requirement for a period of 30 day

Rogers must now register as a sex offender for a period of ten years and a victim surcharge of £180 was also imposed
