A DALRY pervert who kept a stash of sick images of children being abused has avoided jail.
Adam Bowie-Browning pled guilty to keeping the vile haul on his computer at his home address in West End, Dalry, between June 29, 2016 and 22 February 2018.
The 24-year-old appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court this week for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to having 30 images on his device when police raided the property on February 22 this year.
Fiscal depute Jennifer Harkins told the court police had tracked Bowie-Browning’s computer through his IP address after it had flashed up for having downloaded the filthy stash.
She said: “As a result of that a search warrant was granted in February and on February 22 that search was executed. An analysis recovered 30 indecent images which were all category C level.”
Bowie-Browning’s solicitor Peter Murray said: “He is a 24-year-old single man who resides with his mother.
“At the time of this offence he was unemployed had no real friends and spent the majority of his time on his computer. The only contact he had was with people he met online.
“During the course of one of these conversations a link was sent to him and it was that link (that is) related to this matter. He viewed these images on a number of occasions. He knows this is not a victimless crime and there are of course children who suffer for these images.”
Sheriff Michael Hanlon told Bowie-Browning: “I’m going to impose an alternative to custody. What I would want to suggest to you is that this is not a victimless crime in any way, manner or means and that’s something you have to realise.”
He was sentenced to three years supervision, has to complete the Moving Forward, Making Changes programme, 135 hours community service, made subject of a Sexual Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for three years.
